The Montreal Comiccon (French: Le Comiccon de Montréal) is an annual pop-culture fan convention that showcases sci-fi, horror, anime, video games, tabletop games and comic books. It is held in Montreal’s Palais des Congrès convention center in downtown Montreal. The convention features comic books, toys, games, science-fiction, horror, anime, non-sport cards and collectibles. In total, over 150 activities, including several workshops and presentations, competitions, anime activities, concerts, plays, a video game section and more are available. The convention takes place in the month of July over the course of 3 days.

The Montreal Comiccon first debuted in 2006, around the same time as the New York Comiccon premiered. Since then, it has quickly become one of the most popular summer festivals in Montreal. The Montreal Comiccon features legends from the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, gaming and comic books. Numerous international stars articipate in conferences, workshops, photo and autograph sessions. Because Montreal is a city that is both Anglophone and Francophone, the Montreal Comiccon offers a variety of activities that cater to both the anglophone and francophone population markets of Montreal while bridging the gap between American comics and European bande dessinée. Programming includes film screenings, photo booths, autograph sessions, main stage events, video game exhibitions (including a Super Smash Bros tournament!), and of course, guest panels!

Dressing up as your favorite comics, anime, video game, manga, movie, TV, or book character has become a staple of the Montreal ComicCon. This act of dressing up is known as Cosplay (costume and play). A large part of the Comiccon is dedicated to Cosplay, including the Masquerade. The Masquerade is one of the highlights of the Montreal Comiccon. It is a non-professional costume competition featuring costumes from comic books, movies, Japanese animation or video games.

This international fan convention showcases the best artists and products from various entertainment genres like: Sci-fi, Horror, Anime, Gaming in all its forms, and, of course, bande dessinée and comic books. The convention features special guests, artists, exhibitors and many special contests. The turnout for Montreal Comiccon keeps getting bigger, which speaks to just how popular this major event has become, attracting thousands of visitors along with big stars from the industry. commiccon_montreal_2016 commiccon_montreal_props
